Measuring about 4-1/2″ x 7-1/2″, and 12 pages long, this small pamphlet or booklet contains the script and stage directions for a “Christmas Season, 1868” production of “Puss in Boots, as Exhibited by the S. P. Society.”
It is printed in Portland, Maine, by Stephen Berry, and no further credits are provided.
I have no idea what the “S. P.” stands for, but it could be as simple as “South Portland.” It is also credited in a similar pantomime script (“Little Red Riding Hood”, eBay item # 393051251975), in association with the
New Jerusalem Church, which was a Swedenborgian institution.
The advertisements – on the inside front cover and both sides of the back cover – all appear to be local Portland, Maine, businesses.
It is in used and worn condition, with some surface rubbing and creasing, and some creases and tears around the edges.
